I Found My Passion for Music During this Weird Time
by TYLER YACINTHE a.k.a. TKo2
The pandemic forced all of us to be quarantined in our houses for a very long period of time, starting in March of 2020 and lasting all the way till now. In that time period, I've done a lot of things to help build myself as a person. From drawing and crafting to cooking meals. But the thing I focused on the most is the music. Over this weird year, I've caught the music bug and started creating music and now I feel like I'm on my way to the music industry. So far I have made over 20 songs and released seven so far. It's been a crazy few months of music for me so let me tell you the story of TKo2, which is my rap name.
My rap career started in January of 2021. One night, while I was on the phone with my friend Gabino, he mentioned that he used to make music. He showed me his previous songs and they were really good. One of his songs even got over 200 plays on Soundcloud and YouTube. I was really impressed with his work. Then he suggested that I make a song just for fun. I said okay because I'm pretty good with rhymes and with poems, so I was up for it. At that point I had never made a song. I actually tried back in the 8th grade but I failed miserably. So that night he taught me how to use the app GarageBand, and then I just did something and everything. The song took me a few days to make and a few days to write, not surprising because it was my first song. But nonetheless the song was made and all that was left to do was to release it. I was so not ready for that.
The day of the release arrived. I was about to upload the song to Soundcloud and I was pretty scared. The song was called Falling Down. It's basically a song about failed promises and false truths. It really connects with me as a person because in my life I've been through lots of sad moments and heartbreak. Everything I said in that song is based on a true story in my life. As I was uploading the song I had goosebumps because I didn't know how listeners would react to any of my music. The next day I got loads of positive reviews on the song and people really loved it. I felt accomplished for what I did and I felt that people knew I had a future in music. To this day the song has over 600 plays on Soundcloud with the number still growing.
Ever since then I've been releasing song after song and I've been improving. Just listen to my recently released song Fight Club to see my improvement. I want to continue music for my future and I wanna start making money off of it one day.
I started this music journey just for fun and I didn't take it seriously at first. But now it's the thing I'm working on day and night. I pour my heart and soul, my blood, sweat and tears into my music and it is all based on a true story. I'm kind of thankful for Covid and quarantine because without it, I wouldn't have found my passion for music and I wouldn't have gotten to where I am today. I am truly grateful for this opportunity.
